The last few years at the Delta have brought lots of work, and lots of changes. Now that the Dam has been removed, and unfortunately with it, the loss of easy access to Sundial Island, the restoration activities will be concentrating on the main area of the Delta. Though the work at times will create some inconveniences, it should only enhance the environment that draws so many to the Delta to begin with.
We met with Ash Creek Forest Management a week ago, and were taken through the restoration plans, and given some general information on the upcoming work. The projects starting this month will involve cutting and herbicide treatments, with September bringing activity requiring heavy equipment, and temporary trail reroutes of the Eastern extent Meadow Trail. Please be aware of this work when you’re visiting, and be mindful of your safety, the safety of your companion animals (horses and dogs), and be respectful of the workers and traffic.
Below is a schedule and a rough description of the work and areas affected. Underneath that is a map of the referenced areas. (Click either image to enlarge.)
We will update the schedule, and provide regular updates when possible while this work in on-going.
Thanks,
Jeff
