Saturday, February 1st, a small crew of volunteers went into the Delta to clean up some more abandoned transient camps. We knew of this particular site, visible from the road, since December when it was occupied. Once determined that it had been abandoned, we targeted it for clean-up. We will be targeting another abandoned camp location for cleanup this coming Saturday, February 1st. This camp is just off Jordan Road as you near the entrance to the Delta from the West. There is a substantial amount of garbage, and a shelter to dismantle. We hope to have 6-10 volunteers for this project. There is a tree planting event at the Delta this Monday (January 20th – MLK Day) sponsored by the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership. The event is scheduled from 9:00 AM through 12:00 PM.
