As visitors may have seen, the trail detour has been set up for the work restoring the Eastern Wetlands at the Delta.
Those visiting during the week, please be aware of equipment and trucks, particularly in the work area.
The general schedule for the work will be as follows:
Week 1: August 25th-August 29th
- Put signs about the project at the kiosks and on the Meadow Trail
- Put up signs/fencing and establish detour route for the Meadow Trail
- Mobilize machinery, including two excavators, dozer and 1 haul truck.
- Surveyor stakes the site, mobilize trailers and fire equipment
- Begin clearing of North Channel and wetland areas
- Haul in materials
Week 2: September 2nd-5th
- Begin excavation of North Channel and wetland excavation and hauling
- Stage logs in necessary locations
- Install necessary turbidity controls
Week 3: September 8th-12th
- Continue wetland excavation and hauling
- Continue North Channel excavation
- Remove culverts from North Channel
Week 4: September 15th-19th
- Finish North Channel, install rock/coir/logs
- Continue wetland excavation and hauling
Week 5: September 22nd-26th
- Continue wetland excavation and hauling
- Place wood in wetland areas
- Grading around wetlands
Week 6: September 29th-October 3rd
- Continue wetland excavation and hauling
- Place wood in wetland areas
- Grading around wetlands
Week 7: October 6th– 10th
- Finish grading around wetlands
- Begin final cleanup
Week 8: October 13th – 17th
- Stabilize site
- Complete any necessary changes
- Place seeding on bare soil
- Demobilize
After Construction in February – March 2015, Ash Creek will be installing over 100,000 native trees and shrubs at the site around the North Channel, Horseshoe wetland, and around the entire project area (about 70 acres). Then maintenance of those plantings will begin and continue for the next three years.
