We are looking for some new volunteers to help with our trash can duties at the Delta. If you are a regular visitor, and can manage approximately once a month to visit the Delta and help empty the trash cans, and haul the bags to the dumpster, we would love your help. The main gate at the Delta will begin to be managed starting the evening of October 10th. The exit lane will remain open, but is controlled by a tire spike strip to prevent entry. Regular users to the Delta may have noticed a gate at the entrance, and a tire strip in the exit lane. This has been installed years ago with the intent of managing day-use hours at the Delta. The Forest Service will be contracting with State Parks to manage opening closing of the gate. The gate will only close the inbound lane and the tire strips will prevent entrance while the gate is closed, but will allow exit
As visitors may have seen, the trail detour has been set up for the work restoring the Eastern Wetlands at the Delta. Those visiting during the week, please be aware of equipment and trucks, particularly in the work area. Work on a wetland restoration project will be beginning the week of August 25th. This work is being done in an area called the Horseshoe Wetlands which abuts the eastern portion of the Meadow Trail. Some of the work will encroach on a short section of the trail. It will involve excavation, and transporting some of the fill to another adjacent location within the work area.
